With us in the Hotel and SPA Resort Freund at the Edersee you can expect our own stud farm with Finnish horses. Mini ponies also live here. The riding horses are descended from selected cold-blooded horses from the Finnish State Stud. We have been successfully breeding the versatile Finnish horses ourselves here in Oberorke for many years.
Our stables directly at the hotel, close to the Edersee, with boxes for guest horses, our own indoor riding arena with outdoor facilities as well as spacious parking areas and pastures are located just above the hotel. From there you can ride out directly into the beautiful nature …

Finn horses on our hotel owned stud farm at the Edersee in the Sauerland region
The fastest cold-blooded horses in the world: Finnish horses have been listed in the Finnish stud book since 1907. From 1930 pure performance breeding with pedigree testing began.
The vastness of Finland has shaped the breed: brave and strong for agriculture and forestry, intelligent and light-footed for riding, as well as enduring in the sled or wagon, the horses had to be. In Finland, the fastest cold-blooded horses in the world are used in the popular trotting races!<\/p>\n

The ideal riding horses for the whole family<\/strong>
Thanks to its docility, good nature and willingness to serve man, the Finnish horse is also a great companion for the whole family. His strong nerves and tolerance give children as well as beginners special security when riding. The height of the ram’s back is between 1.53 m and 1.63 m. Horseback riding through the Sauerland is possible with us under the following conditions:<\/strong>
During the vacation periods (Hesse and NRW) daily without registration at 9.30 a.m.
Saturday and Sunday without registration (during the vacations and outside the vacations)
Outside the vacations during the week from Tuesday to Friday with registration the night before until 20.00
Outside the vacations there is no riding on monday
Price: \u20ac 19 for a 1\/2 riding lesson (for our younger guests)
or \u20ac 33 for 1 riding lesson<\/p>\n

…we do not provide riding equipment for rent for riding through the Sauerland. Instead of a riding helmet, it is also possible to bring a bicycle helmet.
…Horse riding \/ riding lessons are at your own risk.
… only people up to 85 kg can ride our Finnish horses.
